NOTD: French Tips with a Twist

For my nails this week, I decided to spice up the classic French tip manicure. 

As you can see, I used purple instead of white on the tips, keeping the edges at an angle, and I lined the edges with pink nail studs.

For the tips, I used this purple shade from GirlStuff Forever. To keep the edges of the tips neat and straight, I used scotch tape as a sort of stencil. Anyway, I've posted a few times already about Girl Stuff nail polishes on Facebook and Twitter. I'm gonna tell you more about them in a separate post, but I'll tell you this now - I am liking them! They're locally available, affordable but the formula is still great, free from formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate, and the nail polish bottle is lovely and easy to store. Again, more in a separate post! ;]

To spice things up even more, I lined the edges with pink nail studs. 

I am sure you're not wondering why I chose this color! Haha. These nail studs are easy to apply, and they stick on the nails pretty well even without a legit nail glue. I just used regular top coat to stick them on. What I did was lay them on my nails on top of a fresh coat of colorless polish. I tried to work quickly so I could stick everything before the polish dried. Then I just topped everything again with another layer of top coat. These studs didn't come off easily, which impressed me, honestly. I thought at first they were all gonna fall out after just a day on my nails without nail glue, with all the hand-washing I'd be doing, but I was wrong :)

I originally planned on using white polish instead of purple for a more elegant look but decided to use purple instead because I really wanted to use the purple polish. Hihi.
