Majolica Majorca Workshop: Make-Up 101

Hi there! I recently attended Majolica Majorca's workshop held at Marionnaud, SM Mall of Asia. If you are into make-up, then I'm sure you've heard of Majolica Majorca (MJ or Majo-Majo for short).

Source: Majolica Majorca's Facebook page
Majolica Majorca is a sister brand of Shiseido, and it caters to a younger crowd. Flawless and dewy face, shimmer on the lids, long and full lashes, gloss on the lips - these comprise the "Japanese" look that Majolica Majorca aims to bring through their products.
Description (from Majolica Majorca): Like a magic spell hat makes your wishes come true in an instant, these cosmetics are amazingly effective. They are serious products, carefully formulated with selected ingredients. All of them are packed with the knowledge and know-how to make your dream "transformation" come true. "MAJOLICA MAJORCA!" 'Make your wish, and it will be granted.'
The speaker first introduced us to the brand, of course, and shared the legend behind it. Yes, there's a legend! :)

The Legend of Majolica Majorca

Once upon a time there lived a bird.
She was small, and insignificant, and had neither
beautiful feathers nor shining tail.
But her heart was innocent and true.

The bird loved beautiful things,
and she always wished she could become beautiful, too.
Each day she searched and searched for feathers that were
beautiful or unusual, and adorned her body with them.

Before she knew it,
the bird had become strangely attractive and unlike any other.
Her beauty was totally unique, fascinating and captivating.

The goddess of beauty had watched all this,
and she felt admiration for the bird's courage and creativity.
The goddess chanted a spell: "MAJOLICA MAJORCA!"
Then a wonderful thing happened!

The feathers adorning the bird's body all became real,
and a tiny crown appeared atop the bird's head.

The bird had become the goddess' chosen princess,
an evangelist of beauty.
"Now," said the goddess to the bird,
"Go forward into the world and make all the girls beautiful."

Have you heard of this legend? It was my first time hearing about it ;]

In the workshop, we were taught the basics of make-up application. The speaker demonstrated the proper techniques in applying make-up, and she also shared some very helpful tips.

She created a day look and then later converted it into a night look. I'll now be sharing to you the stuff that I remember from the workshop and I hope you find them helpful :]

Before applying any make-up, make sure that your face is clean. Putting make-up on a dirty face doesn't really do any good.

1. Prime the face (Skin Lingerie Pore Cover). Dot the product onto the five main points of the face - forehead, tip of the nose, chin, cheeks. When applying product on clients, don't use your fingers - just use a brush or a sponge. If you must touch the face, use your knuckles instead of your fingers. Apply the product in an upward motion. This will help prevent premature sagging of the skin which can be caused by pulling your skin downwards.

2. Apply foundation (Skin Remaker Pore Cover Foundation). Apply the foundation dry for a light to medium coverage. You can also apply it wet for a heavier coverage.

3. Conceal dark undereyes (Skin Lingerie Pore Cover). When concealing dark undereye areas, apply the concealer in a triangular manner, following the shape of your eyebags.

4. Set the concealer with powder using a powder brush.

5. Prime the lids (Skin Lingerie Pore Cover).

6. Apply a light shade of eyeshadow on the main lid, without going over the crease (Majolook Illuminator/Majolook Trick On/ Jeweling Eyes Palette). Pack the color on the lid by pattiing instead of sweeping. Wipe off any fall-out using a fluffy brush.

7. Apply a medium shade on the outer corner and on the outer fourth of the crease. Blend the color by lightly feathering it upwards using light strokes. Don't go way over the crease as much as possible.

8. Apply black eyeliner on the upper and lower lash lines (Jeweling Pencil/Perfect Automatic Liner). Do not pull the lids as you apply liner. Apply white liner on the lower waterline to brighten up the eyes and make you look more awake.

9. Curl the lashes. To create a nice curl, start from the base of the lashes. Press and hold the curler for a few seconds. Avoid pinching the lid. Move on to the middle part of the lashes, press and then hold. Move on further to the tips, press and then hold.

10. Apply mascara on the upper and lower lashes (Lash Gorgeous Neo/Lash Expander Frame/Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On). Start from the base of the lashes. Wiggle the brush as you go upwards, like in a zigzag motion. For longer lashes, apply lengthening mascara starting from the tips. You can choose to apply a mascara base prior to mascara application to strengthen the curl (Lash Bone Black Fiber In).

11. In case of mistakes, clean up using make-up remover (Eye Reset Gel).

12. Groom the brows. Fill in the sparse areas using an eyebrow pencil or a brow powder (Brow Customize Powder/Sword Cut/Super Slim). Use three points of the face as guidelines. Imagine a vertical line from the corner of your nose. Extend that line and the upper tip is where your brow should start. Now imagine a straight line connecting the corner of your nose, the center of your eye, and your brow. The tip of that line is where your arch should be. Lastly, imagine a line connecting the corner of your nose and the outer corner of your eye. Extend that line and the tip is where your brow should end. Remember, when filling in the brows, start filling in the middle part and then just blend outwards.

13. Smile and then apply blush on the apples of the cheeks using a fluffy blush brush (Puff de Cheek/Cheek Customize Color). Make sure to blend the color out.You can combine different blush colors to come up with new and interesting shades.

14. Highlight the high points of the face like the nose bridge and the top of the cheeks (Cheek Customize Color).

15. Line the lips and fill them in (Jeweling Pencil).

16. Apply gloss on top of the lips (Honey Pump Gloss/Rouge Majex Lip Gloss)

Aaaaand that completes the day look. To convert this into a night look:

1. Intensify the outer corner of the eyes using a dark shade. Blend well.

2. Highlight the browbone using a light shade and blend downwards. Highlight the inner eye corners, too.

3. Darken the blush and lip color to your liking.

And that's basically it! I hope you find that helpful in some way. The speaker did only half of the model's face and asked a someone from the audience to recreate the look on the other half of the face. Look who volunteered!

It's Genn (MissGennD) practicing her make-up skills. She did a really good job, too! :D

Some Majo Majo products were on display. I'd like to get my hands on one of their mascaras sometime soon. I've read a lot of good things about their mascaras :)

Oh, and they have a new collection coming out soon. They didn't give out the details about the new collection but we did get to see some teaser shots. I believe this collection has already been released in Japan.

Snacks were served, too. Yum :)

Some fellow bloggers also attended the workshop and we had fun eating and window shopping after the event ^^,

'Twas a long day. I look so haggard in these pics :P
It's so nice seeing these ladies - Jes (MakeUpLove), King (25,000-Megawatt Smile), Janine (Nin Monster in Manila), Genn (MissGennD) and Myrted (Love Skin Best)! Hope to see them again soon :)

Every attendee got a loot bag from Marionnaud.

Inside are...

...a Marionnaud discount coupon and a bath mesh sponge :)

I also got this really soft brush from King for only P52. This came all the way from LB. Aww, now I'm missing school :(    Thanks for this brush, King! It is now in my make-up bag :)

And that's about it! Hoping for more opportunities to attend workshops like this! :D

Have you tried Majolica Majorca products? Care to share your fave from them?
